Plus d'informations
The story of this cuvée is deeply rooted in the restoration of an exceptional terroir. In 2014, when the teams of Virant took over Château Beauferan, the historic vineyard had been left abandoned. Convinced of its remarkable potential, our winemakers undertook a complete rehabilitation, carefully preserving the old vines while replanting young grape varieties.
This precise work restored Terre de Beauferan to its noble status within the AOP Coteaux d’Aix-en-Provence appellation. This exceptional red wine expresses the true strength of this rehabilitated site. Crafted through a meticulous winemaking process, it undergoes a pre-fermentation maceration at 15°C, followed by a post-fermentation maceration, and is then aged for 6 months in third-fill oak barrels.
This demanding method, similar to our Cuvée Prestige, gives the wine remarkable power and complexity. On the palate, it delivers a flawless harmony where intense notes of jammy red fruits, mild spices, vanilla, and caramel blend seamlessly, all wrapped in beautifully elegant, round tannins.
Pairing
The perfect accompaniment to your everyday meals, this red wine will be a delightful addition to your pizza nights or as an aperitif served with a platter of finely sliced cold meats.
Tasting advice
This Provence red wine pairs magnificently with red meats, game, stews, and Mediterranean dishes. It is also a wonderful match for rich cheeses (Roquefort, goat cheese, Époisses, Livarot) as well as indulgent chocolate-based desserts.
Environnemental initiatives
Having been committed to sustainable and responsible viticulture for many years — recognised by the High Environmental Value (HVE) label — Virant is now taking a new step forward with an ambitious agro-ecological transition, centred on restoring and maintaining soil life. Plant cover, limiting inputs, and encouraging natural beneficial organisms: every practice is designed to nurture the estate’s biodiversity and strengthen the natural balance of our 216 hectares of vineyards.
Awards
This wine boasts a solid and consistent track record. It was awarded a Gold Medal at the Aix-en-Provence Competition in 2020 (2018 vintage), a Gold Medal at the Concours Général Agricole de Paris in 2017 and again in 2024 (2021 vintage), and was awarded the Grand Prix d’Excellence at the Vinalies Nationales in both 2017 and 2018.
