More informations
The Cuvée des Oliviers is a legendary wine that has stood the test of time with unrivalled consistency. Acclaimed by connoisseurs of fine wines and a must-have in the cellars of those in the know, it remains the most iconic expression of the Virant terroir.
To produce this exceptional wine, the winegrower, the cellar master and the wine merchant work together with absolute passion. The excellence of this wine rests on rigorous technical choices. It undergoes a long fermentation period of three weeks, maintained at between 20 and 25 °C, allowing for optimal extraction of the deepest aromas and tannins.
Its character is then further developed through ageing: 50 per cent is aged for six months in new oak barrels, whilst the remaining half is aged in stainless steel vats. A testament to meticulously selected grape varieties, this cuvée reveals a structured, powerful and complex palate, with excellent length and supported by round, well-structured tannins.
Pairing
Richness, character, and finesse make this wine the ideal match for red meats, game, and fine gastronomic dishes. The Cuvée des Oliviers will also express unique new flavors when paired with aged cheeses. For the more adventurous, enjoying it alongside chocolate will unlock intense sensations and surprising aromas.
Tasting advice
For a truly memorable tasting experience and to allow its full structure to express itself, ensure you decant this wine in a carafe one hour beforehand.
Environnemental initiatives
Having been committed to sustainable and responsible viticulture for many years — recognised by the High Environmental Value (HVE) label — Virant is now taking a new step forward with an ambitious agro-ecological transition, centred on restoring and maintaining soil life. Plant cover, limiting inputs, and encouraging natural beneficial organisms: every practice is designed to nurture the estate’s biodiversity and strengthen the natural balance of our 216 hectares of vineyards.
Awards
Year after year, the Cuvée des Oliviers reaffirms its place amongst the estate’s most distinguished wines. At the Aix-en-Provence Wine Competition, it was awarded a Gold Medal in 2024 (2021 vintage) and in 2025 (2022 vintage), before winning the Silver Crown in 2026 for its 2023 vintage — a track record that testifies to the consistency of its character and identity.
